Belltop Cafe sits quietly on Colin Clark Level 3 at the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus, serving as a steady companion for students, staff, and those familiar with the rhythm of campus life. This café specializes in coffee with a clear focus on quality, offering well-crafted cappuccinos alongside a solid lineup of espresso-based drinks like short and long macchiatos, chai and matcha lattes, as well as cold options such as iced long blacks and turmeric lattes.

The interior strikes a balance between casual comfort and practical study spot. Greenery is scattered throughout, adding a fresh, relaxed vibe that encourages lingering before or between classes. The café tends to attract a crowd that leans heavily towards the university community, including everyone from early-morning caffeine seekers to those looking for a reliable place to settle with a laptop. Generous seating and numerous power outlets make it well-suited for study sessions or working remotely with minimal interruptions.

Service is notably quick, even on busier mornings, supporting the fast-paced nature of campus life. While the coffee is generally regarded as dependable and well-made, some of the specialty cold drinks can be hit or miss, so it’s worth sticking to the signature cappuccino or espresso if in doubt. The pistachio croissant and other baked items add a satisfying snack option without overshadowing the main draw — the coffee.

Visitors will find Belltop Cafe particularly convenient as a pre-class stop or a midday recharge point, where the atmosphere buzzes quietly with focused energy rather than overwhelming noise. Its location and vibe make it ideal for those who appreciate a straightforward coffee fix with a touch of greenery and community feel, all within the university setting.

I’m a fossil at UQ - I’ve been on this campus for a total of 5 years across St Lucia and Herston. Sucks to be me. Unfortunately the endless cups of coffee on both campuses have kept me alive, and sustained me thus far. Had you asked me a cafe recommendation on campus though a few weeks ago, I wouldn’t have been able to give you an answer. I sure can now. I’m a barista myself and I would defs endorse the barista here - he definitely seems to know his machines and beans. I’ve not had a day where I’ve got anything short of a good coffee from him that I’m happy to pay for. I think his name is Jake and I think he’s a bachelor ladies. It’s also a plus that it seems to be breezy up here on any given day.

A great on-campus cafe option tucked away on Colin Clark Level 3. The coffee is always great nd their pistachio croissant is delicious!

I love this little cafe so much. The coffees and shakes are amazing (especially the Viet iced latte), and the atmosphere is so lovely with all of the plants. Really fast service, even when they get busy, and a lot of seating and PowerPoints to charge devices. I love hanging out here before class

Absolutely love this café! The staff are always so kind and welcoming, which makes every visit feel comfortable and relaxed. The coffee is consistently great, but the real standout is the home-cooked meals they taste fresh, hearty, and made with real care. Highly recommend stopping by!

Pretty views of the UQ campus, amazing staff (look out for Jake! He’s very good looking), extremely tasty coffee (Iced Oat Latte is very tasty), and nice peaceful vibes. Definitely a good visit if on campus

My favourite café at Uni! The almond croissants are worth, and the coffee is too! The matcha is also good, it's creamy and not watered down. Most of all, the service is so great, the staff are all so kind, especially the asian man who is usually always there. One time I bought the beef fried rice and didn't know it would be so spicy, and they kindly let me exchange it for the chicken one instead. The tables area is well-kept and the roof-top vibe is a nice change of scenery from the typical uni cafés :))) Just tried the Strawberry Matcha today, its really sweet, which is not my personal preference but if you like sweet matcha, then this is it! Its still yummy though
